Taking a Leap on the Music Projects to Promote Aesthetic and Social Values of Children's Songs in Public Schools of Kigezi Region of Uganda: A Contextual Analysis

This study analysed the use of music projects to promote aesthetic and social values of children's songs of Kigezi region of Uganda. The use of music projects in composing and singing children's songs to impart values among children in public schools is an important aspect of the Bakiga people in south western Uganda. However, given the social changes in the Bakiga culture, these values are being eroded. The main objective of the study was, therefore, to examine the aesthetical aspects of the Bakiga children's songs. Data collected through documents review were analysed using narratives. The study findings revealed that the use of music projects provides a basis for imparting values among children in public schools. It was concluded that the adoption of music projects provides a platform for fostering better values in children. The study recommended that educators need to always use appropriate music projects to effectively develop values among children in public schools. © 2023 Adonis and Abbey Publishers Ltd.
