Interdisciplinary tasks as a concept for engineering education
Abstract
Rationale: The establishment of interdisciplinarity as a principle that makes possible the enrichment of the curriculum is a current imperative derived from scientific development. Therefore, Higher Education should be able to incorporate it into the engineering education process to train professionals following the demands imposed by the times in which they live. This article aims to elaborate tasks based on an interdisciplinary approach to improve the quality of the initial training of professionals in engineering careers. We carried out our Pedagogical research at the Higher Polytechnic Institute of Huambo - Angola. We used the historical-logical, analysis-synthesis, systemic, user's criterion, and inductive-deductive methods. Interdisciplinary tasks allow the determination of the content system introduced as an inter-object to solve professional problems that require multidisciplinary relationships between objectives, contents, and methods. Therefore, helping the student obtain better interconnection with the different subjects he receives during his training; besides being theoretically based, they have potentialities to encourage the students' motivation for Engineering careers, and their application is feasible in the current formative context.
