This work focuses on an experience of international cooperation (IC) between the Higher Institute of Edu-cational Sciences of Huila (ISCED-Huila) in Angola and three Portuguese Public Universities, namely the University of Aveiro (UA), within the 2nd edition of two Master’s Courses (MC) from ISCED-Huila. The following research questions guided the study: What potentialities and constraints are identified within the IC established between the UA&ISCED-Huila? What recommendations emerge for future collaborations? A predominantly qualitative methodology was used, with a case study design based on: (i) testimonies of the focal points of the IC UA&ISCED-Huila; and (ii) systematized results from other studies that involved the application of two questionnaires, 18 interviews with teachers, master’s students and employers, and the document analysis of 27 dissertations. Although the balance is quite positive, in terms of the potentialities that occurred in the IC (e.g. prestige it gave to MC), some constraints (communication defi-cits between institutions and differences in institutional cultures) were identified. Recommendations should therefore be considered in future IC experiences, including the integration of a deeper understanding of institutional/profes-sional realities and the roles to be played by each partner. © 2020, Edicoes Universitarias Lusofonas.
