Does the Civil Service Commission in Bangladesh map skills to align education, recruitment testing, and training?

By Alam, Gazi Mahabubul

Employing a quantitative approach, the authors analysed data on 2802 Bangladeshi public sector employees using multinomial logistic regression and descriptive analysis. The results revealed that public administration graduates occupy fewer white collar jobss in the Bangladeshi civil service. Public administration graduates performed less well than the science graduates in recruitment testing for white collar positions. These findings show that recruitment policies and the skills provided in university public administration programmes in Bangladesh need updating for a 21st-century public service. © 2024 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.; IMPACT: This article focuses on recruitment testing for white collar jobs in the public sector; the goal is to better align public administration programmes, recruitment testing and training. Although the research was done in Bangladesh, other developing nations will benefit from the results. © 2024 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.
